Does the new version and future versions of Spotter have any way of telling you who was ejected for cheating ?

Eg , John Smith enters my game but is immediately ejected by Spotter through its cheating detection software ...... Does Spotter tell me John Smith was cheating and thats why he left ?

In Spotter 1.5, it does not catch cheaters who JOIN games unless they are running Spotter.  Since they do not have to run Spotter to join, assume that they won't run it.

Spotter 1.5 prevents people from cheating while HOSTING a game.

Full protection for hosts and joiners comes in version 2.

Will Spotter tell me the name of the person cheating for future reference ? Put simply will Spotter NAME the cheater in the log file at all ?

I understand your question but it seems redundant in a way.  If a player is kicked and you didn't do it and they are not in your nutcracker wouldn't that narrow it down a bit?

I am sure that the next Spotter will log some sort of useful information when a cheater is detected.  What form that information will take I do not yet know.

It would narrow it down yes , but then I would never know for sure if the player joined and didnt like the people in the game or whether he was indeed a cheating CJ !

Spotter having some sort of log file saying XYZ was booted because he/she had cheat files loaded would be useful info to have

Spotter 1.5 is "the new version."


Spotter 1.5 does not catch cheaters who JOIN games.

Since it does not catch them, it does not kick them.  
Since it does not catch them, it does not tell you they were cheating.  Because it doesn't know.

So when you talk about someone "ejected for cheating" the only way they were ejected for cheating is if they were ejected by you.  If you think your Spotter is ejecting for cheating people who joined your game, you are mistaken.  If your Spotter kicks someone from your game without you doing it yourself, it's because you have the Nutcracker on.

If someone is caught cheating by their own Spotter while they are hosting (or if for some reason they are running it while joining) it's not going to tell YOU anything.  If you have joined someone else's game, you don't get a log of their game.

I don't know how to make this any more clear with regard to the new version than what I've already said.

If you are asking possible features in Spotter 2.0, that was not clear.  (You are asking in the present tense, and Spotter 2 is in the future: it does not exist yet.)  I have not decided what 2.0 will do in this regard, but it will probably tell you in one way or another.  More likely though, cheaters will not be able to connect to your game in the first place with Spotter 2.

I subscribe to Hades,good job with the spotter! What the heck,it didn't let me host either I got a modified bullet_decal file back in a while that I have forget about...it didn't let me run the game! So I replaced it with the original and voila,game runs smooth.Does that make me a (an ex-) cheater...?

Yes, please don't take my sarcasm for criticism.  I'm glad that you have joined the ranks of the cheat free snipers.  The more who see the light the better.

Lol,I am ok,don't worry for my hurt cheater-soul. It was not a green dot but a purple gayish one that I got from someone . And yes,I can say I didn't pay too much attention to it (forgot - if U like),since I'm running a lot around,not checking after every shot where it hit. Gosh,if that's a cheat,what is a speeder or a wall hack? Anyways,I corrected the "mistake" - to be diplomatic

And I'm glad to say that I've seen the light waaay back,when I refused to throw grenades,to do respawn-kills,killing my teammates,cursing other players,talking dirty a.s.o. a.s.o. Instead I have made lots of friends.Ain't that sweet? (Check my signature )

Yeah personally I think green or purple blood is way down on the list of importance.  The speed hacks and other cheats are real problems, and unfortunately a lot of people have been using them.

That raises an interesting question though: considering all the things Spotter does for you, when you find someone who doesn't use it to host, it really makes you wonder WHY?  

It wouldn't surprise me if there are a few people who will stop using Spotter because it interferes with their ability to cheat.

U can be darn sure there will be ppl who will stop using spotter,to be able to cheat. I personally can't imagine to host without spotter. And when I join a game where is no spotter on,I let the host know about it,ask him about it. It makes hosting so much easier!

Now, Will spotter blocks game for the modified scopes or huds too?

Hi all . I think like VVV Andy and waiting for new Spotter 2.0. Many people use cheat and mode in SE too much .We have not any weapon to fight with them. Many people play fair but many people play with cheat . I thought in “No Crosss” style all players play fair but now I know it is not true. I know that because one time when I talked with my friend about his match. I told " I see it was very hard match" and He answered " Yes You have right, and we won only because I used wall hack". I dont know what I must say.Ii is very sad for me. I see players who not bleed when I shot to them. On SovS team web site You can see maps with add barricades and I think if some one can add barricades he can delete it. Now I dont know who play fair and who play no fair. I only trust some of my friend. I hope You will give my and all SE players weapon to fight with !@#$%^& cheaters. Greetings for all GotS members.

We are all anxious to see when spotter 2.0 appears...until then, power 10 is the only "safe" way to play - at least for wallhacks. I only host p10 these days, 'though i'm not really in for it.

Allow me to start by asking that the users of this forum please refrain from continuous request for release dates for new version of Spotter.  There is no scheduled release date and there is much work to do.  Asking over and over only frustrates the developers.  When there is news about Spotter it will be posted.  Thank you.

Now as for cheating...

Cheating is a rampant problem and no game style is "safe".  We are diligently working on the problem but remember that the cheat developers are working too.  The creators of cheats will be working very hard to circumvent our efforts so they can continue to cheat.

If you feel you have information that may be helpful to the developers please send me (Mr. Pink) a private message.  Remember that the |GotS| do not allow the public discussion of specific cheat information so please do not post any on the forums.  

Again, if you have access to cheats or information about them please pm me and we can discuss it further in private.

Agreed , I have just came from a game where a person was using wall hack / Ghost figures ......... whatever you call it that enables you to see people in a ghost form until they expose themselves out in the open .

And it annoyed the hell out of me to be continually shot the moment I ventured anywhere near the host of this game . It was so blatantly obvious they knew when and where to aim and fire  

The cheaters are having their day as every dog does, but we shall have ours too.  Fear not, have faith, and be patient.

that is why sometimes I rather just kill them from far away instead of rushing.  it works with the laggy people too...

Thats ok when playing on an open map , however being a German on the Ubahn , this was not an option
