|GotS| operates friendly servers where everyone can enjoy a game of Sniper Elite the way it was meant to be played.  There is no cheating or other bad behavior on our servers, which is why they are so popular and why they fill up FAST!

All players who are willing to be courteous and friendly and abide by these rules are welcome on our server.

SERVER RULES

1.  Play like a sniper!
This is a sniper game, not CoD.  Don't run wildly all over the map like a fool.  Use available cover, and make your shot.

2.  Profanity or abusive language in text messages is not acceptable.
Disrespectful behavior towards |GotS| is not tolerated! You are a guest on our server.  Act accordingly.

3.  No Cheating!
ANY use of cheatspots will result in an immediate ban from |GotS| servers.  We do not want to hear "oh someone else was using my pc, that wasn't me"  If you are stupid enough to let someone else use your computer and nametag to cheat, you are too stupid to play on our server.

4.  Don't spawnkill.
A gentlemanly competitor gives his opponent a chance to spawn and engage in the game.  He does not begin to fire at an opponent the instant he spawns.  We have the spawn invulnerability set fairly high so players have the opportunity to get to cover.  We realize that some of the spawn points are poorly placed and accidents sometimes happen.  You look away, look back and suddenly there is an enemy.  Those sorts of things happen and cannot be helped, but if it's occurring often it could be determined to be poor sportsmanship and treated accordingly.  Try to be fair and everyone will ignore the little accidents.

5.  Mines are OK, but no prox-mines at spawnpoints.
Mines used to defend your position or to kill an unsuspecting enemy are fine.  But everyone knows where the spawnpoints are.  Placing a mine at or near a spawnpoint so that people step on it as soon as they spawn to alert everyone to where they have spawned is poor sportsmanship and it will not be tolerated.

6.   Don't spawnrush.
Some running is necessary.  Some people like to run all the time.  We shoot those people.  Someone is a spawnrusher if as soon as they respawn, they run flat out for the enemy spawn area, and they do this over and over again.  This is not the way to play the game.  Eventually we lose our patience and they will get kicked.   Don't be a spawnrusher.

Read more about what's appropriate regarding spawn areas HERE.  You should also download and install the |GotS| map pack from this link.

7.  Use sidearms appropriately, if they are enabled.
MGs, pistols, and knives are for close-quarters combat only, like inside a building.  Don't run through the streets or open areas spraying your MG; that's not playing realistically, it's playing stupidly.

8.  Don't unbalance the server!
When you join the game, don't just blindly pick the "Auto" team, and don't join the team that has the greater number of players, because that will unbalance the server and force an autobalance.  That is extremely annoying, and will probably get you kicked.  Abusing the autobalance system by switching to the larger team when you're already in the game, in an attempt to force somone else to the other team, will definitely get you kicked.  We don't tolerate that kind of nonsense.

9.  Do not call votes on our servers.
Trying to change the map will get you kicked.  If you see someone you think is breaking the rules report it in a text message to the hosting Gent and he will take appropriate action.  Do not get upset if you don't see anything happen right away.  The Host may be warning the person or just observing to see what they are doing.  Trust us, we host fair games and will do what is necessary to maintain a fair game.

These rules are here to help everyone have a good game.  Our members do not violate them, and we do not allow others to violate them on our servers.

When you visit our server, you should think of yourself as a guest in someone else's home.  If you repeatedly or egregiously violate the rules, you should not expect to be allowed to return.

If you are kicked from our server, it is for violating one of these rules.  People who have been kicked are welcome to return if they change their ways.  If you keep coming back and doing the same thing, you will be banned.

The absolute fastest ways to be banned are for cheating, or for mouthing off to us on our own server.

The members of |GotS| usually prefer to play as a team.  If you are asked to switch teams to make room for a Gent, please do so.  Such courtesy is appreciated and will be remembered.

From time to time it may occur that one of our servers if full and there is a Gent waiting to join.  If this happens, we may ask for someone to voluntarily leave to make room.  If no one volunteers, we might select someone at random to make room.  An announcement is made if this is happening, and any player so removed is welcome to return later when there is space.

Finally, we remember the people who come to our servers, and how they behave.  If you play with honor and courtesy, and obey the rules, even if you are not highly skilled, you will be treated well and will always be welcome.
